Decentralized Energy Generation
« on: November 03, 2008, 08:21:36 AM »
India being a vast country, decentralized energy generation is the only way to manage ever increasing energy needs of this society.
Also systematic energy audits and correction measures has to be followed to make efficient use of available energy.
Biogas technology should be used in all sectors of life reght from home to industry.
Solar and Wind energy should also be explored smartly whereever possible.

There is no denying that non-conventional energy resources need to be employed for solving energy problems. And although these technologies may seem more expensive compared to coal fired plants, a large scale investment would bring down costs as well as enhance technology.
However, I disagree with the view that decentralized energy generation is the only way to go ahead. The government has to invest in large scale energy programs based on conventional, nuclear and hydro power. Decentralization makes sense for scarcely populated areas, but for large cities, mainstream investment is quite necessary!
